About Us
Development Society (DS) is a women-led, non-profit and non-partisan private voluntary development organization, devoted to the well being of the marginalized women and disadvantaged youths of Bangladesh. It was founded by a small group of female professionals led by Ms. Bhagabati Ghosh in 1987. It is registered with the department of social service under the Societies Registration Act 1961 (Voluntary activities 1961) in 1989 It is also registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Foreign Donation Regulation Ordinance 1978.

What We Do
We have been working to fill gender gap in the areas of education, access to technology, finance, health & nutrition, law of inheritance, politics, entrepreneurship, ownership of properties and employment. We also work for mitigation and adaptation of climate change impacts, conservation of bio-diversity, emergency response and recovery, promotion of clean energy, improved farming practice and facilitate girls’ access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Foreign Donation Regulation Ordinance 2016
Also registered with the Department of Social Service under the Societies Registration Act (Voluntary Activities) 1961
